RIGA - Maxima Latvija retailer and Tineo, the owner of the supermarket building that collapsed in 2013 in Riga, have agreed to pay 100,000 euros in compensation to families for each victim that perished in the accident.
The Maxima building’s cave-in resulted in 54 deaths, and therefore the total cost of compensation comes to 5.4 million euros. The first settlements on compensation have already been signed by families represented by lawyer Aldis Gobzems. Additionally, the Vilgerts law office has participated in negotiating the settlement process.
