The Latvian centre for Opinion and Market Research has revealed 60 percent of Latvian residents do not trust mass media.

According to 35.1 percent of respondents, Latvian print and online news outlets attempt to attract readers with misleading, clickbait headlines, while television and radio show audiences feel shows present a meaningless point of view.

Journalists also came under fire, with 19.8 percent of residents believing journalists present their personal opinion, meaning the objectivity of Latvian media was also questioned.

When it comes to dealing with education, reporting important events and investigative journalism in Latvia, only 10 percent of those asked believe the media do so effectively.

The survey was conducted online between June 2-4, with a total of 637 Latvian residents between the ages of 18 and 88 asked.
