RIGA - The State Police is seeking the prosecution of a 65-year-old man for trafficking women to Greece for sexual exploitation, the State Police informed LETA.

In February 2026, two individuals were arrested on suspicion of trafficking people for sexual exploitation at a nightclub in Greece.

Evidence obtained during the investigation shows that one of them, a man born in 1961, had actively recruited and trafficked Latvian nationals for sexual exploitation by offering several women jobs at a "gentlemen’s club-bar" in Athens, promising EUR 3,500 to EUR 4,000 in monthly earnings.

He committed these criminal acts between December 2025 and February 2026.

The law provides for imprisonment of up to ten years and confiscation of property for such a crime.

The suspect has been placed in custody as a security measure.

Since the preliminary investigation did not confirm the initial suspicions regarding the involvement of the other person in the commission of the criminal offense, the criminal proceedings against that person were terminated.
