Maija Kovalevska and Marina Rebeka to perform at Sigulda Opera Music Festival

RIGA - Singers Maija Kovalevska and Marina Rebeka will perform at the 26th International Sigulda Opera Music Festival that will run July 27 through 29, Sigulda Region Council's representative Sindija Brikamne told LETA.

The festival will open on Friday, July 27, with a concert at Sigulda Castle garden featuring singers Viktorija Pakalniece, Edgars Osleja, Kristaps Ivanovs, Katrina Paula Felsberga, as well as Daumants Liepins (piano) and Elza Silina (violin).

On Saturday, Kovalevska and Kamen Chanev will sing in an open-air production of Umberto Giordano's Andrea Chenier at Sigulda Medieval Castle, staged by Edmunds Freibergs.

On Sunday, a traditional sacred music festival in Sigulda Evangelical Lutheran Church at 1 p.m. will be followed by three tenors' concert featuring Naurus Puntulis, Miervaldis Jencs and Guntars Rungis.

At the gala concert on Sunday evening, Marina Rebeka's performance of Latvian opera compositions will be followed by a jazz music concert featuring Arta Jekabsone, Edgars Cirulis, Janis Rubiks and Rudolfs Dankfelds.
