TALLINN – Estonian bus operator Lux Express will open a new Kardla-Tallinn bus route on Thursday, which will start carrying passengers between the western island of Hiiumaa and the capital around the year.

The bus will depart daily at 7:30 a.m. on the Kardla-Kaina-Haapsalu-Tallinn route and at 4:50 p.m. on the Tallinn-Haapsalu-Kaina-Kardla route.

Lux Express will continue to operate trips based on the summer schedule from June 1, which means that the number of daily departures will increase to two during the summer months -- from the beginning of June, there will be departures at 9:30 a.m. in the Tallinn-Kardla direction and at 3 p.m. in the Kardla-Tallinn direction. Lux Express already departs from Tallinn to Rohukula port at 1:30 p.m. and from Rohukula port to Tallinn at 3:50 p.m., which allows passengers to conveniently transfer from the Hiiumaa ferry to the bus.

Lux Express uses dynamic pricing for ticket sales, with cheaper prices for earlier buyers. For example, a full ticket to travel from Kardla to Tallinn is between 13 and 16 euros, but when buying a ticket from the bus driver, the highest price always applies. Lux Express offers up to 40 percent discount for seniors over 60 years old and children up to 16 years old, while young people up to 26 years old get a discount of up to 26 percent.
