Lithuanian travelers spent EUR 186.5 mln abroad this year

VILNIUS – Lithuanian tourists spent 186.5 million euros abroad in the first quarter of this year, up 10.7 percent year-on-year, the latest figures from the Statistics Lithuania have revealed.

Local tourists who traveled in Lithuania and spent one or more nights spent 31.4 million euros, up 6.7 percent from the same period last year.

The number of Lithuanian tourists' foreign trips grew 10.9 percent to 394,000, and they spent 138.3 million euros abroad during vacation and 48.2 million euros during business trips, up 11.8 and 7.7 percent respectively.

273,000 Lithuanian residents went for a foreign trip over the first quarter, up 8.7 percent. And the annual rise was 0.7 percent to 495,000.

The majority of foreign trips were made to the United Kingdom (11 percent), followed by Belarus (9.6 percent), Poland (7.7 percent), Latvia (7 percent), Germany (6 percent) and Norway (5.5 percent).
