Lithuanian State Defense Council to discuss security situation, intelligence strategies

VILNIUS - The Lithuanian National Defense Council is holding a meeting on Tuesday to discuss the security situation and approve long-term operational strategies for intelligence bodies. 

The council will also discuss an annual report on threats to national security, the president's press service said. 

Under the Constitution, the State Defense Council discusses and coordinates key state defense issues.

The council is chaired by the president and also includes the prime minister, the speaker of the Seimas, the defense minister and the chief of defense.
