VILNIUS - The Lithuanian Social Democratic Labor Party (LSDLP), the minor ruling coalition partner of the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union (LFGU), decided on Saturday to support Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis in May's presidential election.
"A candidate of the left or center-left must win the presidential election," LSDLP leader Gediminas Kirkilas said.
"One of the most important and strongest arguments for us in the election campaign could be (that we need) branches of government -- the president, the government and the Seimas - that are working closely together, rather than competing with each other," he said.
The LSDLP was founded last year by a group of former members of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party (LSDP).
