Lithuanian president to discuss European integration with EU, Western Balkan leaders

VILNIUS – Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda is heading to Brussels on Wednesday to attend the European Union-Western Balkans Summit and the European Council meeting.

The EU-Western Balkans Summit will focus on European integration issues, Nauseda's office said in a press release.

"The summit is expected to conclude with a joint EU-Western Balkans declaration on security, stability and new dynamics for enlargement," it said. 

At the European Council meeting, discussions will center on bolstering military support for Ukraine, and a new package of sanctions against Russia. 

"Leaders will also discuss the European Union's global role, competitiveness, migration policy, and the situations in the Middle East and Georgia," according to the press release.

The EU-Western Balkans Summit will take place on Wednesday, followed by the European Council meeting on Thursday.
