Lithuanian president: Growing ties with Thailand opens opportunities for businesses

VILNIUS – During a visit to Thailand, Lithuania's President Dalia Grybauskaite says that strengthening friendship between the two countries opens opportunities for business and the nations.

Grybauskaite began her visit in Southeast Asia with meeting Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand, which is a reciprocal visit and the president's second meeting with the member of the royal family who visited Lithuania in March of 2016.

The president underscored that, in recent years, growing friendship and relations between Lithuania and Thailand opened up wide opportunities for businesses and people of both countries, the President's Office said in a press release.

At the meeting with the princess of Thailand, the strengthening of bilateral relations, cooperation in the areas of economics, business, innovations, and tourism were discussed, with a special focus on the protection of rights of women and children, their social security and education. The two leaders discussed ways of boosting protection of rights of women and children, and Grybauskaite presented the campaign For Safe Lithuania recently launched in the Baltic state.
