Lithuanian parlt to host discussion on Russia’s, China’s attempt to influence democracies

VILNIUS – The Seimas of Lithuania is on Monday hosting an international conference on Russia’s and China’s attempts to exert influence on democracies.

The organizers said in a press release that the two-day conference had been organized by the International Republican Institute (IRI), the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry and the parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs.

According to the press release, participants, including politicians and experts, will discuss the ability of the democratic community to resist the pressure of autocratic states, aggression in both Europe and the world, China’s and Russia’s attempt to change the international order and potential response of the West.

The conference will be attended by IRI President Daniel Twining, Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Jansa, other representatives.

The conference will be opened by Seimas Speaker Viktorija Cmilyte-Nielsen and Laima Andrikiene, chair of the Seimas Committee on Foreign Affairs.
