VILNIUS – Viktorija Cmilyte-Nielsen, speaker of the Lithuanian parliament, discussed bilateral relations and investment with King Harald V of Norway as part of her working visit to Oslo on Tuesday.

"Today I had a good opportunity to tell King Harold V that Norway is an important, close and reliable partner of Lithuania," she said in a press release. "We have been developing excellent bilateral relations for many years, and Lithuanian companies are successfully operating in Norway."

During her audience with King Harald V, Cmilyte-Nielsen called Scandinavia a priority market for exports, innovation and foreign direct investment, according to the press release.

She said that close ties with Norway are also important because the Lithuanian diaspora, numbering almost 50,000 people, is one of the largest foreign communities in the country.

Later on Tuesday, Cmilyte-Nielsen was scheduled to meet with Masud Gharahkhani, speaker of the Norwegian parliament.
