VILNIUS – Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Gabrielius Landsbergis will attend the 19th Ministerial Session of the Council of the Baltic Sea States in Kristiansand, Norway, on Wednesday to discuss Russia's ongoing war in Ukraine, the Foreign Ministry said.

The session will focus on Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine, the possibilities of the CBSS member states to contribute to the provision of support for Ukraine, further strengthening of regional cooperation, involving young people and civil society, and the opportunities for accelerating the green and digital transformation. The participating countries will also sign a joint political declaration, the statement reads.

Official ministerial sessions have not been held since 2014 in protest against the annexation of Crimea by Russia.

When Russia launched a wide-ranging attack on Ukraine, its membership of the CBSS was suspended. The meeting is organized by Norway as it holds the CBSS presidency until the end of June.
