VILNIUS – Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis on Tuesday met with Devesh Uttam, India's first ambassador residing in Lithuania, to discuss prospects for cooperation and regional security issues, with an emphasis on India's G20 leadership.
"Although India and Lithuania are geographically far apart, we are united by common democratic values and respect for the rules-based international order," Landsbergis was quoted as saying in a Foreign Ministry statement.
India has an important role to play in Lithuania's Indo-Pacific Strategy, particularly in diversifying Lithuania's supply chains, Landsbergis pointed out.
"We see prospects for developing cooperation in the fields of high technology, engineering, biotechnology, life sciences and digitalization," the foreign minister said.
India opened its embassy in Vilnius in March, and Lithuania opened its diplomatic mission in India in 2008.
