VILNIUS – China's plans of taking part in the Russian war games in the Baltic Sea may contribute to the tensions in the region, says Lithuania's Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius.
"Essentially, cooper ation among countries is a normal thing, however, when we know that at least one of the countries is not setting an example in the field in real life and by way of actions, all of the countries cooperating with it can indirectly contribute to this," the minister told journalists on Wednesday.
"Therefore, we are bringing this to our attention in hopes that this is not the case with China," he added.
Linkevicius stated officials would keep a close eye whether the training later in June do not feature offensive content.
On Monday, China's media said that three of the country's warships would soon join Russian ships in an exercise close to St.Petersburg and Kaliningrad. China's helicopters should reportedly also take part in the training.
