Lithuanian appeals court upholds life sentence for ex-OMON member for border killings

The Lithuanian Court of Appeals on Monday upheld the life prison sentence for Konstantin Mikhailov, a former member of a Soviet special police unit convicted for his role in the killings of Lithuanian border guards and police officers at the Medininkai checkpoint in 1991, and reclassified the offense as a crime against humanity. The sentence came into force after the Court of Appeal's ruling.
