VILNIUS – The leadership of the Lithuanian Air Force has extended condolences to US troops over the death of a fighter jet pilot.

On behalf of the whole personnel, Colonel Dainius Guzas, commander of the Air Force, extended condolences to the leadership of the US Air Force leadership in Europe and Africa and the leadership of the 48th Fighter Wing.

An F15C Eagle was on a routine mission from RAF Lakenheath when it crashed into the North Sea off the UK. Pilot Keneth Allen was later found dead.

According to the Lithuanian Air Force, the US pilot was part of a fighter jet squadron that bolstered the NATO air policing mission in Lithuania with six F15C Eagles in March, 2014 in response to events in eastern Ukraine and thus stepped security of the Baltic region's airspace.

"The US Air Force's swift response to the situation and provided protection can never be forgotten and is appreacited to this date," Guzas said in a statement.
