VILNIUS - Lithuanian Agriculture Minister Virginija Baltraitiene says that she has no grounds to fire Jonas Milius, director of the State Food and Veterinary Service (VMVT), but she has advised him to step down. “I spoke to the director today and told him that I saw no possibility for him to stay in the job,” the minister told BNS on Aug. 8. Law enforcement officials suspect that the VMVT covered up information about bacterial contamination in products made by Judex, a Kaunas-based frozen food company.
