Lithuanian, US, UK troops carry out joint operation during training in Lithuania

VILNIUS – A joint operation involving Lithuanian, American and British troops was on Tuesday carried out in Lithuania's Kazlu Ruda as part of the ongoing international Exercise Saber Strike 2022, taking place in the Baltic states and Poland, the Lithuanian army said.

Troops of Lithuania's Kestutis Motorized Infantry Battalion were deployed from Pabrade to the Kazlu Ruda Training Area by US, UK and Lithuanian aircraft and conducted combat actions according to the exercise scenario to destroy hostile non-conventional groups in a key territory.

The annual United States Army Europe and Africa (USAREUR-AF) exercise in Eastern Europe, Saber Strike 2022, involving some 13,000 troops, is aimed at training the tactical ability of the U.S. forces to move capabilities into the eastern flank of NATO during the cold season and the interoperability with the Allies there.
