Lithuanian, Turkish archivists to exchange historic documents

VILNIUS – Lithuania and Turkey's chief archivists will on Friday sign a cooperation protocol and exchange historic documents in Vilnius.

The document will be signed by Lithuania's Chief Archivist Kristina Ramoniene and Ugur Unal, the director of the State Archives of the Presidential Office of the Republic of Turkey, the Office of the Chief Archivist of Lithuania said.

By signing the document the two countries will commit to implement joint cultural projects.

The chief archivists will also exchange the digital copies of historic documents reflecting the development of the two countries' diplomatic relations.

Lithuania and Turkey established diplomatic relations on September 17, 1930. Turkey has never recognized Lithuania's occupation by the Soviet Union that started in 1940.
