Lithuanian, Latvian defense ministers to discuss defense cooperation in Vilnius

VILNIUS – Lithuanian Minister of National Defense Arvydas Anusauskas and Latvian Defense Minister Inara Murniece will discuss further bilateral defense cooperation in Vilnius on Thursday.

The two ministers will also talks about preparations for the upcoming NATO summit in Vilnius in July, the Ministry of National Defense said.

Also, plans and perspectives for further defense cooperation between the countries, the development of joint capabilities, and support to Ukraine will be discussed at the meeting.

Latvia is Lithuania's largest NATO neighbor and an important ally in Lithuania's military cooperation, the ministry underlined.

"Both countries coordinate defense plans, cooperate in the development of defense capabilities, joint acquisitions and other military areas," the ministry notes.

The Latvian defense minister will pay an official visit to Lithuania.
