Lithuanian, caught spying in Russia, sentenced to 12 years in jail

VILNIUS - Lithuanian citizen Aristidas Tamosaitis detained in Russia on spying charges has been sentenced to 12 years in prison, Lithuania’s Ambassador in Moscow Remigijus Motuzas confirmed to BNS on Tuesday. “The court proceedings took place on March 17. Tamosaitis was sentenced to 12 years,” Motuzas said in a telephone interview. In the ambassador’s words, Tamosaitis’ lawyer intends to appeal against the ruling.
