VILNIUS – Lithuania is seeking a more active, deeper and result-oriented dialogue between the state and diaspora, the Foreign Ministry says.

On Thursday, the ministry held the first inter-institutional meeting of a working group in charge of the implementation of the country's diaspora policy and the Lithuanian diaspora policy strategy's "Global Lithuania" for 2022-2030 project.

The group's chairman Foreign Vice Minister Egidijus Meilunas says the goal is to have a more active, deeper and result-oriented dialogue between the state and diaspora.

"The government is stepping up the diaspora policy and is focusing and supporting areas that have lacked attention and support over the past several years, including the spread of the Lithuanian education, diaspora's involvement in Lithuania's life and the promotion of well-being in the ocuntry, better communication between the state and diaspora and the implementation of the idea of a returning Lithuania," he said.

The inter-institutional group includes representatives of state institutions, NGOs and diaspora organizations.
