Lithuania is seeking the European Commission's backing for the synchronisation of the Baltic power grids with the Continental European network via Poland.
Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius says that he has asked the EU's executive body to adopt a political decision on this issue in the fall.
"I asked not to postpone this issue, because a report on the synchronisation will be submitted in the autumn, and I stated our clear position that a political decision should be taken in the fall on the Baltic countries' synchronisation...
