VILNIUS - Lithuania's 2020 military conscription lists were compiled at the Defense Ministry on Thursday.
"I signed all the lists. (...) The process was really smooth," Defense Minister Raimundas Karoblis told reporters.
The lists were compiled for the first time after the age range at which men are called up for mandatory military service was lowered to 18-23 years, from 19-26 previously.
A total of 3,828 conscripts will be actually called up for a nine-month military service at various military units in Lithuania.
Their names were randomly generated by a computer program. This procedure was observed by eight members of the public.
The draftee lists are to be published online at https://sauktiniai.karys.lt within the next few days.
Men and women aged between 18 and 38 years will still be able to volunteer for enlistment.
Lithuania reintroduced partial military conscription in 2015 in response to Russia's actions in Ukraine.
