PABRADE – Lithuania is ready to do everything to create proper conditions for allied troops, host as many of them as needed to ensure the maximum deterrence effect, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda says.

On Tuesday, he visited the General Silvestras Zukauskas Training Area in Pabrade where the German 10th Armored Division and Lithuania's mechanized infantry brigade Iron Wolf are taking part in Exercise Schneller Degen, the first time Germany is holding a command-post exercise of such kind on a territory of an ally.

"It is very important to know that the eFP forces, lead by Germany, are ready to continue investing into proper infrastructure in Lithuania and have very ambitious plans," the president told journalists.

"And I also wanted, with my presence, to confirm that we, the Lithuanian government, are ready to create proper conditions and accept as many troops as it is necessary to ensure the maximum, deterrence effect for Lithuania," he added.

In his words, both countries' readiness to react to threats is of top-level.

"I had a chance to really see myself that the professional readiness of both Germany and Lithuania is of top-level. Just as is our ability to create proper conditions and infrastructure for such a large-scale operation," Nauseda said.
