Lithuania may make refugees attend language and culture classes

VILNIUS - Lithuanian Government Vice-Chancellor Rimantas Vaitkus, who heads the coordination of refugee resettlement, says that Lithuania should learn from Sweden and make it mandatory for refugees to attend language and culture lessons in exchange for benefits. “We see that the refugees (in Sweden) are ‘engaged’ in the integration process — in other words, they are required to participate in every part of the process, and this determines the system of benefits and support.
