Lithuania investigates cheating carmaker

VILNIUS - The German carmaker Volkswagen has revealed that 6,800 cars registered in Lithuania are fitted with software that cheats emissions tests. Some 4,805 Volkswagen cars and 1,692 Volkswagen commercial vehicles, as well as 294 Audis with the EA 189 diesel engines are affected, the German carmaker has said in a press release. In all other aspects, these vehicles are technically safe and roadworthy, it said. The problem does not affect new vehicles with EU6 engines and all other diesel cars powered by engines other than EA 189, the statement informs. ...
