The Lithuanian Government says it intends to contribute to the construction of a deportee memorial monument in the Russian city of Tomsk.
Lithuania’s Foreign Ministry said it would earmark 7,000 Euros for the production, transportation and erection of the monument, in addition to the funds planned for the unveiling ceremony.
A 130 centimetre granite monument with Lithuanian and Russian-language texts, which reads: “In memory of Lithuanian Deportees and Political Prisoners” is planned, plus a Lithuanian cross.
