VILNIUS – Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte underlined Lithuania's historical ties and friendship with Israel, and security as she met with Israeli leaders on Monday.
"Lithuania’s historical ties and friendship with Israel are something we take pride in and cherish," Simonyte's office quoted her as saying during her meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
"Israel is a success story and a role model in multiple fields, a nation synonymous with innovation and creativity," she said. "We want our cooperation to continue to grow, strengthen and enrich our countries."
During her meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Simonyte emphasized security and said that "sustainable peace can only be achieved if Ukraine wins".
The two prime ministers "also discussed the security situation in the Middle East, the cooperation between Russia and Iran, which threatens the security of the region and the world", according to the press release.
