Lithuania’s pharmacies to be legislatively obliged to sell cheaper medications

In an effort to encourage pharmacies to offer clients the least expensive suitable medication, pharmacies in Lithuania will be obliged to issue a certain amount of inexpensive medications. “Agreements between territorial patients’ funds and pharmacies envisage a possibility to issue a certain amount of the least expensive medications, this would then promote more rational consumption and use of cheaper medication,” Health Vice-Minister Kristina Garuoliene said.
