Lithuania’s Court of Appeal on Monday rejected prosecutors’ appeal against the acquittal of a former Soviet militia officer in a war crime case. A jury of the Court of Appeal backed the ruling of a court of first instance and said all doubts were in favour of the defendant and that a verdict could not be based on presumptions.
