Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai (Lithuanian Railways, LG) has announced a tender for design and contracting of electrification of the railway stretch Vilnius-Klaipeda in one of the largest railway projects over the past years. It will be co-financed by money from the European Union (EU).
The tender will consist of three phases, including the first one for electrification of the Vilnius railway hub, followed by electrification of the stretch between Kaisiadorys and Radviliskis and finally the stretch from Radviliskis to the port city Klaipeda.
