Latvian universities receive largest number of applicants in past years

RIGA - This year Latvian universities have received the largest number of applicants in the past years, according to estimates drawn by LETA.

According to information published on portal, 10,296 unique applications were submitted for studies in one of Latvia's 12 higher education institutions, and 9,226 applications have been approved. Thus, the number of applications has been the highest one in the past eight years and the number of approved student applications has been the highest since 2013.

The University of Latvia is the leader with 18,044 applications in total and 4,510 approved applications. The Riga Technical University follows with 11,352 applications and 2,216 approved applications. Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LLU) came third with 835 approved applications.

Daugavpils University was the most popular among regional universities with 473 applications, followed by Rezekne University of Technologies with 265 approved applications, Liepaja University with 250 approved application and Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences with 193 approved applications.

Admission to the Rigas Stradins University (RSU) is organized on a separate platform, and RSU also reported higher interest this year with 2,636 unique applications.
