RIGA - Overall Latvian unemployment is the lowest it has been since 2008 after a 0.2 per cent decrease in September. According to the State Employment Agency, the unemployment rate is currently at 7.9 per cent.
However, unemployment in other Latvian cities has yet to reach national lows, as Daugavpils remains at 10.8 per cent, and Rezekne at the national low of 15.1 per cent. Riga maintains the lowest rate at 4.9 per cent. The Latgale region has struggled to better the joblessness situation and has the highest rate of unemployment at 17.4 per cent in the region.
