Latvian tourist bus overturns in Estonia after collision

RIGA - A tourist bus from Latvia collided with a car and overturned on its side in southern Estonia on Saturday, the daily Postimees reports, citing police information.

The collision took place in Torva Parish, Valga County, on the 42nd kilometer of the Valga-Ulu road.

The accident was reported to the emergency center at 15:43.

According to preliminary police information, the MAN bus with Latvian plates was on its way from Valga to Taagepera when it was overtaken by a Chevrolet Aveo. During the maneuver, the car crashed into the side of the bus.

The bus ran off the road and overturned on its side. Besides the driver, there were 20 passengers on board, five of whom were taken to hospital by the ambulance for medical examination. One passenger suffered a serious shoulder injury, according to Postimees.

The other passengers were expected to be taken to Valka in a police bus. Another bus was scheduled to pick them up there, reports the Estonian news portal Delfi.

The 62-year-old bus driver, the 72-year-old car driver and the car's passengers were not injured. None of the drivers was under the influence of alcohol.
