On July 28, 2015, the Latvian Security Police confirmed it has identified over two people people who have voiced support to, and joined terrorist organisations.

Regarding the connection between Latvian residents and ISIL, the Security Police confirmed it has information about two Latvian residents who have joined the organisation.

The Security Police also identified a number of people who have voiced support to ISIL’s ideology.

However, the Security Police underlined that participation in the military conflict in the Middle East, and voicing support to the violence motivated by religion does not automatically mean relation with ISIL.

In March this year, the website of Latvian Kokla municipality was allegedly hacked by ISIL.

The Security Police said it does not have information about similar activities against other Internet resources in Latvia.

The Latvian IT Security Incidents Response Institution, Cert.lv, also confirmed it has not observed any attacks specifically in relation with ISIL.
