Latvian seaman disappears in France after falling from ship

RIGA - A 55-year old Latvian seaman, crew of the Latvian tanker Elandra Baltic, fell overboard yesterday morning while fixing a pilot ladder at Fos-sur-mer, France, Maritime Bulletin reports. A search and rescue was launched, with deployment of helicopter, search and rescue speedboat, pilot boats and inflatable boat, but unfortunately, the missing seaman was not found notwithstanding calm weather, and in the afternoon the search and rescue was suspended.  The tanker was anchored at Fos-sur-mer anchorage.
