Latvian rep elected to UN Human Rights Committee

On June 23 in New York, Ilze Brands-Kehris was elected to the United Nations Human Rights Committee (UNHRC) for the 2017-2020 term, BNS learned from the Latvian Foreign Ministry. This is the first time that a Latvian representative was a candidate for a post on the committee. Candidates from 22 countries had been nominated for nine positions of independent experts.
