RIGA - The Presidium of the Latvian parliament has called an extraordinary parliament meeting on Thursday afternoon to review the tax reform legislative package in the final reading.

The extraordinary meeting will begin at 2 p.m. today. Previously the ruling coalition parties agreed that the lawmakers should not be working throughout the night and, should it become necessary, the meeting will be adjourned until next morning.

The Latvian parliamentary committee on budget and finances (taxes) yesterday evening completed the work on the tax reform legislative package related to the tax reform and approved them for the final reading in the parliament. In most cases the lawmakers approved the proposals as submitted by the government or made only slight adjustments. Some bills without direct relation to the tax reform were removed from the legislative package and will be discussed later when drafting the 2018 national budget.
