Latvian officials express condolences to relatives of earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria

RIGA - Latvian officials have expressed condolences to relatives of earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria.

Latvian President Egils Levits said in a Twitter post this morning that his thoughts are with victims and rescuers after the devastating earthquake in Turkey and the surrounding region.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics (New Unity) expressed his deep condolences to the families who lost their loved ones and wish for a speedy recovery to all the injured.

As reported, a strong earthquake struck southeastern Turkey and Syria, killing at least 321 people and injuring more than a thousand, officials reported. The earthquake was 7.8-magnitute strong.
