TALLINN – Russian customs officials at the Kunichina Gora border crossing point discovered 49 kilograms of undeclared cosmetics in the luggage of a Latvian citizen on his way to Estonia, which he planned to later bring to the European Union through the Koidula border crossing point, the regional Louna-Eesti Postimees writes.

Upon inspecting the vehicle of the Latvian national, officials found several bags in the car's trunk containing cosmetic products that the man had not declared, the Pskov customs service said on Tuesday.

The man confirmed that a total of 245 different cosmetic products were intended as gifts for friends working in beauty salons. However, the customs officers did not believe this claim.

As the goods had not been declared at customs, an administrative offense procedure was initiated against the man. The goods were confiscated and sent for inspection.
