RIGA - Weather in Latvia will become increasingly hot and dry in the coming days, resulting in a higher fire risk, the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center warned.

According to the Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center’s forecasts, air temperatures in most of Latvia will soar to +27, +30 degrees centigrade at the beginning of next week, which means that the fire risk in Latvia’s forests will be especially high, corresponding to the orange fire alert.

The air temperature forecast for the next few days corresponds to the yellow alert. Nighttime and early morning temperatures, however, can be considerably lower. In some areas outside cities, temps will drop as low as +6, +8 degrees centigrade.
