Latvian MEP Kalniete denied entry to Russia for Nemtsov funeral

On Monday March 2, Russia’s customs officials prevented Latvian MEP Sandra Kalniete, a member of Unity Party, was refused entry into Russia when she arrived in Moscow to attend the funeral of Russian opposition politician Boris Nemtsov, which took place on Tuesday, March 3. Nemtsov had been shot dead in Moscow the Friday evening before, and Kalniete had expected to attend his funeral. But upon arriving at Sheremetyevo International Airport in Russia, Kalniete was stopped at passport control, and her passport was taken for inspection. Shortly afterwards, she was told...
