Latvian MEP calls proposed migrant fuel tax unrealistic

RIGA - Introducing an EU-wide fuel tax to help finance the absorption of migrants would be impractical, Krisjanis Karins, a Latvian member of the European Parliament, said in an interview with Latvian Television (LTV) on Monday, Feb. 22. “It is complete nonsense, plainly speaking. For any tax changes to be adopted in the EU, they have to backed by all 28 member states.
