After three years of preparatory work, the Latvian Cabinet of Ministers today adopted the new teachers’ wage model which is expected to come into force on September 1.
Teachers’ wage reforms began in spring 2014 when Ina Druviete (Unity) was the education and science minister. A new model was subsequently developed by education minister Marite Seile, although it was not introduced due to the lack of political support and disapproval of co-operation partners.
