The Belarusian people should have the possibility of freely and openly voicing their opinion at the election, Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics (New Unity) said during a meeting with the visiting Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei on July 24.
During the meeting, the two ministers discussed the situation ahead of the presidential election in Belarus on August 9. Rinkevics called on Belarus to respect civic freedoms.
