Latvian farmers' losses due to unusually hot and dry weather this past summer are estimated at around EUR 400 million, Farmers' Saeima board chairman Juris Lazdins said.
According to the Agriculture Ministry's estimates made in July, Latvia's grain, dairy farms and forest owners have suffered losses of EUR 359 million due to hot and dry weather. According to the latest estimates, these losses are close to EUR 400 million. The average amount of losses is EUR 200 to EUR 400 per hectare, said Lazdins.
