Latvia's GDP rises 4.3% in Q1 - flash estimate

RIGA - Latvia's gross domestic product in the first quarter of this year rose 4.3 percent year-on-year according to seasonally non-adjusted data, according to the Central Statistical Bureau's flash estimate.

Compared to the corresponding period of 2017, during the first quarter of 2018 seasonally and calendar adjusted GDP grew by 5.2 percent.

In the first quarter of 2018, compared to the fourth quarter of 2017, the GDP value, according to seasonally and calendar adjusted data, increased by 1.7 percent.

According to seasonally and calendar non-adjusted data, in the first quarter the GDP was affected by the increase of 3 percent in industrial output, rise of 35 percent in construction, and growth of 5 percent in retail trade.

A more detailed report on the precise value and changes of the GDP during the first quarter of 2018 will be released on May 31.
