Latvia's cumulative Covid-19 incidence drops to lowest point in half a year

RIGA - Latvia confirmed 396 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, while six more people died of the coronavirus disease, LETA was told at the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC).

Latvia's cumulative 14-day number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 population dropped to 326.1, which is the lowest figure in the past six months. A lower incidence figure - 311 - was last registered on November 26, 2021.

Latvia has seen its Covid-19 incidence drop at a rather fast rate for about a past week. As recently as May 19, the cumulative 14-day number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 population was 448.8. 

Of the 12,790 Covid-19 tests performed in the past 24 hours, 3.1 percent came back positive. 

The latest Covid-19 victims include one person in the age group of 60 to 69 years, four in the age group of 80 to 89 years and one in the age group of 90 to 99 years. Latvia's total Covid-19 death toll has grown to 2,348. 

Latvia's total Covid-19 caseload has grown to 131,910. According to LETA's estimates, Latvia has registered 6,221 Covid-19 cases in the past two weeks.
